I must choose

“Where does my help come from?”
The world has an answer:

Nobody is coming to save you.
So carry your burden alone.
Trust your strength.
Trust your plans.
Trust your hustle.
Trust the wisdom of men.

But I have read another Word.

“My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Psalm 121:2.

So the popular opinion
stands before God's Word
and I must choose.

One voice says,
“Nobody is coming.”

Christ says,
“I am here.”

One voice says,
“Save yourself.”

Christ says,
“Come to Me.”

One voice says,
“You are on your own.”

Christ says,
“I will keep you.”

Then this is not merely
a question of information.

It is a question of faith.

A question of allegiance.

A question of which voice
I will permit
to become my truth.

Christ is willing to save you.

Not because you are strong enough.
Not because you have figured life out.
Not because you deserve rescue.

He is willing
because He is merciful.

So make your decision.

You have been given
the terrifying freedom
to believe the world
or believe the Word.

You can worship
the wisdom of the crowd,

or kneel before
the Wisdom of God.

You can rehearse:

“Nobody is coming to save me.”

Or you can lift your eyes
toward the hills
and remember:

“My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Choose.

Exercise your free will.

Believe God's Word.

Because perhaps
the greatest lie
the world ever taught you
was that you are alone.

Christ is willing to save you.

And He is already calling.
