possess gold
Abba-Father,
My pockets are empty,
and my strength feels small.
I look at the ruins
of missed opportunities,
delayed obedience,
fearful steps,
and wasted days.
I do not hide behind excuses.
I know the harvest I see today
has grown from seeds
I planted yesterday.
Yet my greatest poverty
is not the lack of money.
A man may possess gold
and still be unable to see Christ.
A man may own houses,
lands, and treasures,
yet remain blind
to the beauty of Your Son.
Abba-Father,
that blindness frightens me
more than an empty wallet.
Money can buy food,
but it cannot purchase
one glimpse of Your glory.
Money can buy books,
but it cannot buy
a fresh revelation from You.
Money can buy comfort,
but it cannot comfort a soul
that longs to behold Christ.
So here I am,
holding this Holy Bible
with trembling hands.
These pages are before my eyes,
but unless You breathe upon them,
they remain words upon paper.
Open my eyes, Abba-Father.
Lift the veil.
Shine Your light
upon the face of Christ.
Show me His humility
when pride rises within me.
Show me His obedience
when I seek my own way.
Show me His wounds
when I forget the cost of my salvation.
Show me His beauty
when the world competes for my attention.
Show me Christ
walking through every page,
every promise,
every command,
every prophecy.
For I cannot see Him
unless You reveal Him.
I cannot know Him
unless You draw me near.
I cannot treasure Him
unless You awaken my heart.
Have mercy on me,
Abba-Father.
If prosperity comes,
let me not love it more than Christ.
If lack remains,
let me not abandon Christ.
Whether my hands are full
or empty,
let my eyes be fixed
upon Christ.
Give me that fresh revelation
which silver cannot buy,
which gold cannot earn,
which no earthly treasure can obtain.
And when my soul is weary,
let the sight of Christ
become my consolation.
When my heart is troubled,
let the sight of Christ
become my peace.
When my future seems uncertain,
let the sight of Christ
become my hope.
Abba-Father,
I ask for mercy.
Not first for riches,
but for Christ.
Not first for provision,
but for revelation.
Not first for abundance,
but for eyes that truly see.
For one fresh glimpse of Christ
from Your gracious hand
is worth more
than all the wealth
this world can give.
Amen.
