peace asks for courage
Some people fear peace more than war,
because peace exposes their wounds.
War gives them noise to hide behind,
a shield of chaos,
a mask of anger,
a reason not to heal.
Some hearts grow addicted
to the fire they claim they want to escape.
They feed on conflict,
because silence would make them
face themselves.
And so they choose fear.
They choose hatred.
Not because it is strong,
but because peace asks for courage
they have never learned to give.
For some,
the gentleness of peace
is the most threatening thing
they can imagine.
