Borrowed Faith
Everybody needs somebody
To whisper, “You can.”
A voice that rises
When your own voice falls.
Everybody needs somebody
To see the gold
In the dust you carry,
To say the dream is still alive
Even when you feel buried.
Everybody needs somebody
Who believes before the proof,
Who stands before the victory,
Who stays before the applause.
Because faith borrowed
Becomes faith built.
Strength shared
Becomes strength grown.
And sometimes
All a soul needs
To rise from the ground
Is a simple truth spoken softly:
“I believe in you.”
