Makaabah

He perpetually introduced himself as the catholic whom Jesus loves. The fellow was always broke. A committed atheist recently asked him, "If you really talk to Lord Jesus Christ that much, then why doesn't He give you a job?" That question made him realize he had taken part in shaming the name of Christ Jesus.

Faith is the language of heaven. Makaabah's first encounter with the atheist was very uncomfortable; he noticed there is a solecism in the way he manifested the nature of heaven. Guilt overwhelmed both his critical and creative thinking. Vague thoughts were surging through his mind, 'When an atheist looks at me, all they see is a broke catholic who claims that God supplies all his needs according to His riches in glory. Why do I always lack enough money? I need an answer my Jesus.

'Why am I borrowing and not lending? I have been listed as a defaulter by the Credit Reference Bureau. What a shame! I also borrowed money from close friends and I failed to keep my promise. I owe them for all the times they've helped me out.

'Look my Jesus, you did say that I shall lend and not borrow, but I never listened to you. I executed what was right in my own viewpoint. I continually made bad decisions.

'Oh my Jesus, you gave me a job so that I can be a blessing to my mum, the church, and paternal half-siblings. I couldn't bear the office politics. Moreover, there was too much pressure in the workplace. So I opted to quit. Yes my Jesus --- I chose to quit over asking you for help!

'You were willing to help me overcome workplace challenges, but I never asked. Now, I am broke and jobless. It's pointless to blame you; I was engaged in what was right in my own mind. My Lord Jesus, I was wrong, and I am sorry. Please forgive me.'

God can say something as simple as "Your hand will burn when you put it in the fire," but a lot of people, unfortunately, will be seen putting both hands in the fire. If simplicity was easy, we wouldn't have folks roaming the streets with burned hands.

The environment is full of individuals with burnt hands. Everything they touch brings a painful sensation in their skin. They blame God for the pain. The ignorant made a decision to label the pain; they called it an act of God. Is it really wise to say, "Let us get sick and ask God for healing?" It's agonizing to see that there's a prolonged global invasion by ignorant scholars with lots of academic accolades.

His hands were really burnt. Even the blind could see that that kind of burn could only come from burning bridges. Makaabah was not learning. He only wished to change his past. Wishing to change the past makes the present to be filled with sorrow. You won't even have the strength to sing, 'This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!'

Aren't you convinced that it's fruitless to dwell on the past and not learn from it, huh?

Pain is not an act of Father-God; that's an act of the godfather. Everything good that Father-God planned for Makaabah to enjoy won't go to anybody else. Scholars may say that God has given up on him, but feeding on negative comments from scholars won't help him to live a positive life. A great future doesn't require a great past, therefore, Makaabah has another chance to enjoy everything that Father-God planned for him to enjoy.
